Overview

La Leyenda de la Nahuala is the first film in the La Leyenda series and thus kicks off the La Leyenda-Legend Quest saga, directed by Ricardo Arnaíz, it is an animated comedy-horror film premiered for the first time at the Morelia International Film Festival in October 2007 and released in cinemas on November 1st of the same year (Mexico).[2] The movie was produced by Animex Producciones and distributed by Gussi Cinema. With a box office of $4,038,144 USD, the movie was considered a success.[3] The film was brought to the United States via a direct-to-DVD release in the year 2008.

The film was re-released in November 2017 in cinemas of some cities in Mexico on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the film.[4][5] The film received a digital remastering for this special occasion.

La Leyenda is a horror-comedy with traditionally drawn 2-D animation occasional 3-D elements. The film follows one Leo San Juan, a timid and meek 9 year old boy who is forced to embark on a quest to the Old Manor to save his Fernando San Juan on the All Souls Day of 1807
